Vasan Karighattam

Vasan Karighattam works as the Chief Architect and AVP of Engineering at Quest Global. He carries over 25 years of expertise in engineering management, technology strategy, and the development of cutting-edge system software and hardware architectures. Vasan has led large engineering teams to deliver novel solutions across SOC/CPU architecture, secure processor design, and distributed systems for applications ranging from mobile platforms to data centers.

Vasan has been instrumental in setting technology roadmaps and bringing to market high-performance SOCs for smartphones, cameras, and carrier-grade networking products. As a lead architect, Vasan has pioneered secure processor architectures that enable state isolation for trusted execution environments, authenticated off-chip communication, and open designs for enhanced auditability and verification. He has also architected and developed industry-leading 800Gbps/1.6Tbps Ethernet subsystems, FlexE solutions for optical networks, and multi-lane HBM2 subsystems for HPC and networking applications.

Vasan’s technical acumen is further reflected in his contributions to industry standards such as IEEE802.3, ITU, IETF, PCI-SIG, and Open Compute. His extensive skill set also includes Linux and RTOS, link-layer technologies, synthesis, and system software development, making him a visionary in advancing next-generation computing and networking technologies.

Vasan holds a master’s degree from Michigan Technological University at Houghton and a bachelor’s degree from Bangalore University.
