My name is Harper Kelley, and I am a trans-feminine non-binary person. My journey of coming out in 2019 within the engineering outsourcing industry, particularly while working for a customer in aero engines, was both transformative and enlightening. I remember the day vividly stepping onto the customer’s shop floor as my authentic self for the first time was nerve-wracking and exhilarating at the same time. To my relief and delight, I discovered that my colleagues and clients truly cared about was not my gender identity, but my skills, knowledge, and collaborative spirit.
One of the defining aspects of my experience at Quest Global is the company’s deep commitment to the values like humility and inclusivity. These values are not merely slogans displayed on corporate walls, they form the foundation of the workplace culture, creating an environment where diverse individuals can not only coexist but thrive. The unwavering support I received has empowered me to embark on personal and professional growth, inspiring me to pursue MBA in project management.
At Quest Global, the cultural pillar of “care for people” is not just a principle but a practice woven into the fabric of the organization. For example, during Pride Month, the company highlights stories like mine to foster understanding and promote acceptance. This plays a crucial role in inspiring others within the community to live authentically. This commitment to inclusivity paves the way for dialogue, learning, and connection among colleagues, creating a shared sense of purpose and belonging.
In addition, the Quest Global Culture Advocate Network actively celebrates a variety of cultures and identities throughout the year. These initiatives not only enrich the workplace experience but also contribute to a sense of community and solidarity. By acknowledging and honoring the diverse backgrounds of our employees, Quest Global fosters an environment where everyone feels valued and heard. I am genuinely thankful to work in a place that champions all people, creating a rich tapestry of voices that ultimately strengthens our collective capabilities.
I want to extend a message of encouragement and understanding to those who may be contemplating their own journey. Remember, if you’re not ready to come out yet, that’s perfectly okay. Your journey is deeply personal, and you should feel empowered to come out when you feel safe and comfortable. Everyone’s path toward authenticity is unique, and it is essential to honor that process. Never forget that your true self is valued and cherished.
Let us continue to build workplaces that celebrate inclusivity, where every person feels free to express their authentic selves, knowing that they will be embraced for who they are.
