Manufacturing Equipment Automation
Automation engineered for predictable, high-volume performance
Semiconductor fabs expect automation that drives high throughput, stable performance, and smooth recovery from any exception. These requirements continue to increase as equipment integrates faster robotics, complex sequencing patterns, and deeper sensing across modules. Framework-driven engineering becomes essential to deliver control software that stays reliable under continuous operation.
OEM teams must manage numerous design constraints while ensuring full SEMI compliance, including human interface expectations. Structured automation frameworks improve modularity, maintainability, and scheduling behavior, which shortens refinement cycles. Early verification against fab scenarios helps avoid issues that surface at installation and reduces acceptance effort.
Quest Global supports automation development for cluster tools, wafer handling systems, and process or inspection modules. The focus remains on performance and first-time-right integration that enables OEMs to reach production readiness with confidence and speed.
Challenges we solve
Automation teams must balance throughput and yield expectations while managing complex motion control, wafer scheduling, and multi-module sequencing, and we help OEMs design systems that stay stable under these conditions. Reliability gaps can trigger unplanned downtime, so we strengthen exception handling and support consistent 24/7 performance. OEMs also face pressures to adopt SEMI standards compliant automation, integrate third-party devices, and validate behavior early, and our frameworks guide teams through these steps to avoid delays in fab acceptance. Supporting GEM and EDA implementations while preparing new standards adds engineering effort, and we reduce this load through scalable patterns and early compliance checks. Validation must demonstrate full SEMI standards of compliance, and we work with OEMs to uncover issues early so they can avoid costly retests and reduce the risk of rejection at the fab.
Focus areas
Automation frameworks shape how cluster tools and wafer handling modules work together to deliver stable KPIs – throughput, yield, efficiency, etc. Our modular automation assets include proven frameworks deployed on critical semiconductor process equipment. They provide pattern-based controls and SEMI-aligned services that reduce development effort and speed up support for multiple tool variants. Support also includes engineering teams who strengthen and evolve internal automation frameworks for faster development cycles and assured fab readiness.
Reliable host communication influences whether high-value equipment earns fab acceptance, especially as data demands grow and EDA Freeze3 adoption rises. We build SECS/GEM and EDA-compliant connectivity solutions backed by a mature in-house host simulator that validates both standard and fab-specific scenarios. The approach reduces risk at installation and shortens acceptance timelines across global fabs.
Software quality must withstand nonstop fab environments where even minor failures create costly downtime. Our test methodology spans module-level testing to full fab acceptance validation supported through automation, SEMI-compliant toolsets, and dedicated labs that simulate real equipment and host behavior. These labs are augmented by an in-house developed host simulator that emulates real fab host interactions. Continuous testing integrates into DevOps pipelines to support faster upgrades and improve first-pass acceptance at customer sites.
